The premise behind Warrior Spirit Project™ (WSP) is that a broken spirit can be more harmful than a broken body. We believe that Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) is not a disorder to be managed, but is an injury receptive to healing. We take a holistic, evidence-based approach that helps restore the soul and strengthen the spirit of veterans and first responders with PTS and/or TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury.)
There are three primary components of the project…
- Steady Warriors™: Trauma-sensitive yoga and iRest© meditation classes for veterans and first responders of all ages, capabilities, status (active, discharged, retired, reserve) and service histories. This could provide an opportunity for healing in a safe community of peers.
- Pit Bull Partners Rescue Mission™: Support dog program that trains rescued pit bulls as companion and emotional support dogs for at-risk veterans. Participatory training and bonding with these dogs could be a suffering vet’s first step out of isolation.
- GOOD to GrOw™: Community gardens, farmers’ markets, and dog-friendly spiritual formation opportunities, to provide safe and purposeful community-building venues that encourage and support reintegration into civilian life.
Our mission is to help restore the soul and strengthen the spirit of veterans and first responders through Yoga, Dogs, and Dirt, offering support for the transition from isolation to meaningful community engagement.
We envision healing, community connection, and positive personal transformation for every warrior who has been wounded in body or spirit.
