Gene Morrissey
Level 1 iRest Meditation Teacher
A graduate of Stanford University and a former Army officer, Mr. Morrissey served in Vietnam as an Infantry Platoon Leader. As a result of his service in combat he sustained significant physical and psychological injuries. He now manages these conditions successfully without medication thanks to exercise, meditation, and other practices. He is a graduate of the Executive SMART program at the Brain Performance Institute.
He used his education in economics, business, and military leadership to create a successful financial management career in corporate America. He describes his retirement from the corporate world as a career change, and now focuses his energies on community service, especially for Veterans.
As a Certified Texas Master Gardener he has led programs in therapeutic horticulture at the VA Medical Center, with youth at risk, and has developed educational Gardens at local schools. He plays a leadership role in his church, and is a member of the Warrior Spirit Project team as an advisor for community garden projects and a Level 1 iRest Meditation Teacher. He has led iRest sessions for veterans at several locations throughout the Dallas area, including the Brain Performance Institute.
