Trauma-sensitive Yoga/iRest

Each session introduces a brief explanation of a specific phase in the iRest protocol, followed by a full meditation experience.  iRest is an evidence-based, mind-body approach that is the result of thirty years of observation, research, and hands-on development by Dr. Richard Miller and associates.  Its practice is integrative as it heals the various unresolved issues and traumas that are present in your body and mind, and restorative as it enables you to recognize your innate peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life.

Classes at the Brain Performance Institute


This class series is for veterans and first responders only, to provide a community of peers for exploring iRest meditation through learning and practice.
This class series requires registration.

This class is held each Wednesday from 1-2pm (for Veterans and First Responders only) and Friday from 2-3pm (open to the public) at the Brain Performance Institute (BPI) in Dallas. Come enjoy 30-40 minutes of guided meditation, facilitated by a trained iRest instructor, with time for settling in at the beginning and transitioning to a fully alert state at the end of each session.  iRest is a research-based meditation developed by yogic scholar and clinical psychologist Richard Miller PhD. Studies show that iRest works to alleviate stress, insomnia, depression, unresolved trauma, chronic pain and anxiety. This class is the perfect opportunity to connect with a sense of calmness and find quiet in the midst of a hectic day. Pre-register on the BPI website (recommended), or check in at the front desk of BPI.  Classes are free to veterans, military, and first responders.

Steady Warriors with Horses at Equest

Equest has an outstanding reputation for providing equine activities and therapies to children and adults in the North Texas community. Warrior Spirit Project has proudly partnered with Equest to offer “Yoga with Horses” to our veteran and first-responder population.This monthly class is held on the third Sunday of every month from 12:30-2:00 pm. Each session begins with an opportunity to safely interact with certified therapy animals in a secured and monitored setting. Following, a Steady Warriors instructor guides clients through a series of therapeutic breath movements and gentle yoga poses to help release built up stress, tension, and anxiety. Finally, a trained iRest facilitator offers a guided meditation in a secured classroom setting that allows for rest in mind and body, and the potential for relief for a variety of stress-related conditions, including depression and insomnia. This unique opportunity is available free of charge to veterans, military, and first-responders, but is not open to the general public. To reserve your spot contact charla@warriorspiritproject.org.
